Anxiolytic signal
Studied as a calming peptide that lowers anxiety-like behavior in animal models without the sedation or dependence seen with benzodiazepines.
GABA-system modulator
Influences GABAergic neurotransmission in cell and animal studies, the same inhibitory pathway that classic anti-anxiety drugs target.
BDNF support
Raises brain-derived neurotrophic factor in rat hippocampus, a key signal for neuron survival, learning, and memory in research models.
Tuftsin lineage
Engineered from the natural immune peptide tuftsin, with a stabilized backbone that resists rapid breakdown in plasma.
Anti-stress profile
Reduces stress markers and protects memory in rodent models of ethanol exposure, restraint stress, and morphine withdrawal.
Immunomodulatory roots
Shifts the expression of inflammation-related genes in spleen tissue, reflecting its origin as a tuftsin analog.

What is Selank
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide with the sequence Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro. It was developed in Russia as a stabilized analog of tuftsin, a small natural peptide that the immune system uses to activate macrophages. The extra prolines on the chain protect it from rapid enzymatic breakdown, so the molecule stays active long enough to study in the brain.
In Russia, a nasal-spray formulation has been used clinically as a non-sedating anti-anxiety agent. Outside that setting, Selank remains a research compound, mostly studied for anxiolytic, nootropic, and immunomodulatory effects.
We supply it in lyophilized (freeze-dried) form at high HPLC purity, the same quality used in published studies.
How it works
Selank does not bind directly to a single receptor like a benzodiazepine. Research suggests a layered mechanism. It modulates the GABA system, the brain's main inhibitory pathway, by changing the expression of GABAergic genes and altering synaptic activity in hippocampal neurons. That is the strand most often linked to its calming profile.
A second strand is neurotrophic. After intranasal delivery, Selank raises BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) in the rat hippocampus and prefrontal cortex. BDNF is the signal that helps neurons stay healthy and form new connections, which fits with reports of memory protection in rodents exposed to alcohol or stress.
The third strand is inherited from tuftsin: shifts in the expression of inflammation-related genes in spleen tissue. This immunomodulatory layer is unusual for an anxiolytic and is one of the reasons Selank keeps drawing scientific attention.
Often studied alongside
Selank is most often paired with Semax in research and in clinical reports out of Russia, since the two cover complementary territory: Semax leans toward focus and cognitive performance, Selank toward calm and stress resilience. Both are available below in research-grade form, and a pre-mixed combination is offered for protocols that use them together.
Nootropic peptide commonly paired with Selank
Brain-boosting nootropic peptide derived from ACTH. Increases BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor), enhances focus, memory, and mental clarity. Widely used in Russian clinical practice for cognitive enhancement.
Pre-mixed combination of both peptides
Pre-mixed combination of the two leading nootropic peptides in one vial. Semax boosts focus and BDNF, Selank reduces anxiety and enhances calm. Together they provide balanced cognitive enhancement for research.
For reconstitution, the standard solvent in published protocols is bacteriostatic or sterile water.
Standard solvent for reconstitution
USP-grade sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol - the standard solvent for reconstituting lyophilized peptides. Essential accessory for any peptide research. Each vial is sealed and ready to use.
