What does "99.5% average purity" actually mean?

It is the plain arithmetic mean of the measured HPLC purity percentage across the 73 of our 78 published certificates that carry a single purity figure, not a promise about the specific vial you receive. Purity here is a ratio: the share of the tested material that is the correct peptide sequence rather than impurities such as truncated or oxidised fragments, measured by HPLC, and it says nothing about how many milligrams are actually in the vial. The other 4 certificates, bacteriostatic water (which has no peptide to measure purity of) and three older blend batches, do not carry a single purity number in our data and are excluded from this average. Individual batches on this page range from 99.00% to 99.97%, so any one batch can sit anywhere in that range, not exactly at 99.54%, check the sortable table on this page for the real figure of the batch you were actually sent.

Why do different pages on your site show different purity numbers?

Accepted Answer

Because they are two different statistics computed from the same 73 of our 78 certificates that carry a purity figure, not a typo or an inconsistency. The homepage ("Average purity") and the /coa page ("Average measured purity") both report the mean, 99.54%, while this page's own headline stat is the median, 99.55%, the middle value once every result is sorted, which a single unusually high or low batch cannot pull as far. Both are recalculated live from the certificates table on every page load rather than typed into the copy by hand, so either number can shift slightly whenever a report is added or a discontinued product's report is retired. For judging one specific batch, the per-row figure in the table below is more useful than either summary number.

Question 3

What's the lowest purity figure you publish, and why show it at all?

The lowest currently published is 99.0%, on record for 7 batches including a DSIP batch, two NAD+ batches and one of our own Liquilabs-tested GLOW batches, each still listed with its real batch code, lab and verify link, not hidden or excluded. We publish it because this page is meant to be every certificate we hold, sortable, not a curated highlight reel of the best result. Individual product pages on this site actually do the opposite: they show only the highest-purity batch on file as the representative figure, which is accurate but flattering, and this page exists specifically so the low end of the real distribution is visible too. Sort the table by purity, ascending, to see it yourself.

What's the difference between purity, content and identity?

Identity confirms the vial actually contains the claimed peptide, checked by mass spectrometry matching the measured molecular weight against the expected one. Purity is a ratio: the share of the detected material that is the correct peptide versus impurities, measured by HPLC peak area, and every one of our 78 published reports covers both identity and purity. Content is a different measurement again, a mass: the actual milligrams of peptide physically in the vial, and we publish that figure for 77 of the 78 reports, the only gap is bacteriostatic water, which has no peptide content to measure. This holds across every lab we work with: Janoshik, who tests the 51 manufacturer-commissioned batches, BT Labs, Freedom Diagnostics, Janoshik, Kovera Labs, or SteriGenix Analytical, behind our 24 batches under this page's "Independent" filter and submitted to us by customers using their own choice of lab, and Liquilabs, where we commission full safety panels ourselves for 3 batches.

Question 5

Can a vial be 99%+ pure and still be underfilled?

Accepted Answer

Yes, because purity is a ratio and removing peptide from a vial does not change that ratio, a vial that lost half its fill could still test 99% pure on what remains. Content, the measured milligrams actually in the vial, is the only figure that tells you whether a vial is actually full, and it is published for 77 of the 78 reports (bacteriostatic water is the one exception, since it has no peptide content to measure). Checking our own published figures against their label weight shows real batch-to-batch variation, from about 9% under label (SS-31, Black cap 50mg, measured at 45.42 mg) to about 36% over it (MOTS-c, Pink cap 10mg, measured at 13.60 mg), so a batch running above or below its label weight is not unusual by itself, and a purity percentage alone would never reveal it either way. If a specific vial you received looks meaningfully lighter than both its label weight and its own batch's published content figure, that is worth a photo and a message to us, handled the same way as any other suspected defect.

Question 6

Who is Janoshik, and can I trust a certificate the manufacturer paid for?

Accepted Answer

Janoshik Analytical is a third-party laboratory that runs the HPLC and mass-spectrometry testing behind 51 of our 78 published reports, and it is not owned by us or by the peptide manufacturer. Those 51 reports are commissioned and paid for by the manufacturer, not by us, which is worth saying plainly, since we did not choose the sample or pay for that specific test. What still makes the result usable is that Janoshik is independent of both the manufacturer and the seller, and every one of its reports on this site links to a one-click verify page inside Janoshik's own database, so you check the result at the source rather than trusting a PDF or a logo we could have edited ourselves. This is different from our 3 Liquilabs reports, which we commission and pay for directly, and from the 24 reports under this page's "Independent" filter, submitted to us by customers using their own choice of lab. None of this is a guarantee: a CoA confirms the purity and identity of the specific tested sample, not a promise about every other vial from that batch.

Question 7

What should I actually ask a peptide vendor for, besides a purity percentage?

Accepted Answer

Ask for four things most vendors will not volunteer on their own. A batch-specific certificate that actually matches what is in your hand, which we match by the colour printed on the vial cap. An independent way to verify it yourself, such as the lab's own online lookup tool, not only a PDF the seller could have edited, every one of our 78 reports links to one, run by whichever of our 7 labs tested that batch. A content figure in milligrams, not only a purity percentage, since purity alone cannot tell you whether the vial is actually full. And whether the lab itself is accredited: on that point we can only tell you what we have actually checked, neither Janoshik nor Liquilabs, two of our 7 labs, carries ISO 17025 accreditation, and we have not verified the accreditation status of the other 5, BT Labs, Freedom Diagnostics, Janoshik, Kovera Labs, or SteriGenix Analytical, one way or the other.
